About dangerousgoods.online?
dangerousgoods.online is developed and led by Veerle Melis, an aviation compliance specialist with over 30 years of hands-on experience in the air cargo industry.
Throughout her career, Veerle has worked at major international airports for ground handling agents and airlines, as well as for organisations authorised to act as shippers on behalf of clients. She has trained and supported shippers, freight forwarders, handling agents, and airline personnel across Europe, always emphasising clear, practical, and accessible application of dangerous goods regulations.
Veerle was a long-standing member of the ICAO Dangerous Goods Reference Group in the Netherlands, where she contributed directly to discussions and preparations for international regulatory changes (ICAO Technical Instructions and related IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations alignments). This national role involved preparing inputs for global ICAO Dangerous Goods Panel meetings, providing deep insight into evolving standards.
In addition to traditional air cargo, Veerle has served as a consultant for innovative and high-profile projects. She supported all Dutch university solar car teams with dangerous goods compliance for international transport (including prototype lithium batteries). She was also involved in specialised shipments under approval, such as the Smart-1 satellite and BepiColombo.
"My first IATA DGR training over 30 years ago was frustrating and overly complex. It inspired me to build training that's different: concise, practical, and supported by real expertise."
